Milo on Two Wheels
Today Milo, 'The Englander' and I went out on a little adventure taking Milo's laufrad (balance bike) with us. It's been a while since we've been outside with his bike as previous trips have involved many a frustration waiting for him to move at an unthinkable snails pace and having to watch him perform fake, over the top crashes on it when you are actually hoping to reach some place in some sort of reasonable time! Since then, he's only been using his little bike in the apartment, riding up and down the hallway and through the rooms (a big plus of having an apartment without carpet and on one level). It seems that this indoor riding has done Milo some good as today was a breeze with him. He's picked up his confidence and speed on the bike and was riding along at a reasonable pace and clearly enjoying himself. There was none of the erratic stopping and starting of previous attempts and we were able to walk happily beside him without having to constantly be offering hopefull words of encouragement in the aim to get him to do what the heck you need him to actually do! He loved being on his little blue bike (a birthday present from the Grandparents) and I can see him getting to the point where he can ride down a small slope with his feet held proudly in the air! I can't wait!
I love to read your comments so please feel free to let me know what you think...

He looks like he's really enjoying himself!
ReplyDeleteHe absolutely was!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, reminds me of the Law of Parenting #72B: The pleasure of caring for a toddler during time T is inversely proportional to how many tasks you wish to accomplish during time T. They're such a delight when you have no errands to run.
ReplyDeleteThose two photos are fantastic, too.
Erik R - ha ha, how true! how very true!
